Taken last night at the Beaver Island Music Festival, handheld using my gorilla pod to brace the camera. The dancer was using two hula hoops that were ringed in lights. This was my favorite because of the way you can see her silhouette. She was quite amazing -- they both were in fact. Following this dance, they repeated, but with fire!
What a great way to use the gorilla pod!had never thought to use it like that....back to your image.....WOW! What a super capture.what cool show that must have been fav
I just wanted to thank you all so much for your quick response and many fav's to this shot. I am so excited to see your reactions, as I had liked the shot a lot and thought it may be one of my best, but I never can really tell. Thank you for your wonderful comments and your favs!!
Hope, I learned to use the gorillapod that way by watching @vankrey Michael while we were traveling in Japan. He had it attached to his camera almost all the time and braced the camera often on whatever was handy, including himself, rather than limiting it only to use as a regular tripod. I now carry it in my kit!
This is stunning. It's even better on black when everything else is cut out. I will have to get myself a tripod. So many things I never thought I'd need!
Awesome shot Taffy! This is such a brilliant capture. Thanks for sharing the tip about the gorilla pod. I have one but never think to use it. Gotta get it out and try it.
Taffy ... you continue to raise the bar ...and then raise it some more ... this is one of your best for me ... actually one of my favest on 365 ... Instant fav
Wow - so impressive - you hit the perfect settings to get his spectacular shot - you're right - that silhouette in the middle is terrific with all the vibrant colors.
Another FAV from me, and I hope to see it on #1 on TT this week!! Thank you for the tip, and for making all of us run to our camera gear and take that gorilla pod out to use!! Love how the different light pattern intersect...
@panthora I can't take credit -- it was all Michael and his influence! But it does seem to work! Thanks for your fav and good wishes. That would certainly be exciting! But I'm also happy to finally get onto PP!! Very hard to do these days!
Wow such a cool shot Taffy! Yay for the PP and here comes TT :) I really like that we can see the person's hand just to put the human element in there.
@silver_fox Thanks so much! I think it's sharp because I had the gorilla pod to steady it and then used as quick a shutter speed as I could (about 1 second) with a fairly wide lens. I was really pleased.
@taffy the system doesn't make sense to me sometimes, but that's ok. I've had my share up there. Thanks for your support, my friend. Hope it places in the contest I entered it in anyway.
@cjphoto Thanks Chris -- I really appreciate your comments tonight on my shots and your visit to this one. I was really thrilled. I think it may be my best shot ever.
FAV
Also - I want one of those hoops!!!

Great shot Taffy!
Amanda -- I don't get why your shot http://365project.org/amandal/365-year-2/2014-07-19 wasn't on here.
A much delayed thank you for your kind words on this shot and being #1. What a thrill!! And yes, Michael, getting into the fun of rural life but summer is flying by and I can't believe it's almost August.
How could I've missed this one?! FAVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
