A turkey and her chicks were strolling down the beach early this evening. It was such an odd sight I just had to post.
Thank you so much for your comments and favs that put "Peering Through the Grasses" into the TT this week. It's so reinforcing and encouraging -- I appreciate your support!
Egad, it's August already!
love the little ones flexing their wings and sgtrutting. Turkey mamas are so alert and shy that this is an amazing capture, not just that they're on the beach.
These little chicks are really strutting their stuff! Cute! I also posted shots of a strutting peacock and Monarch butterflies in the past couple days. What's next on our agenda?
@thirdjoe Thanks Joe -- I was using my 70-300 zoom at 300mm. And today, it was amazing -- this same family, I'm sure, walked across our deck, looked in our screen door, and just ambled along! I hope they come back again when I have camera more in hand. I just have them as they are ambling off the deck. It was so exciting! (Gives you a sense of 'excitement' when living in essentially in the middle of nowhere).
OMG -- will you be sure to ask them to stay til the weekend? Love the contrast of the parent, seemingly nonchalant while the farther chicks are fluttering for attention.
@jyokota Would you believe yesterday morning, the whole family walked across the deck!! The adult looked in the screen door at Jim who was reading in one of the leather chairs that faces out. They stared at each other, and then she and her chicks ambled along!
@jyokota I have my main one, but think I left my travel in Chicago. I also have my gorilla pod. But, there are some night shots in town that I think we should do so bring travel tripod or gorillapod -- either should work. And I have a few others that are clunkier but you can use of course! Switching to email...
@pflaume They walked across our deck this morning -- had to be the same turkey family. I wasn't fast enough to get a shot, but it was amazing to watch. Jim said one looked in the screen door right at him, and then just moved on!
