A rainy day on the island, cleaning for fall closing, and company for dinner, so no time for much photography. Only photos from today are of dinner or of turkeys on the beach so decided to focus instead on processing photos from Japan trip as I really want to get the book together. For this I wanted to capture the idea of a ferris wheel without necessarily going for a realistic look at it. I thought the textures and lines in this shot were more interesting than a realistic look at the ride itself. Processed using photomatix and silver efex.
I'm going to take a stab and say this looks like a low structure shot. I wondered where that effect could look good, and you have nailed it. Very effective.
It is an interesting processing. A challenge to make something so iconic different. Hope you got cleaning done. When I start playing my cleaning suffers. It has suffered a lot lately.
What an intriguing image of a ferris wheel. I like the contrast of the buildings' lines and the squareness of the railing compared to the roundness of the ferris wheel, something that probably shows up even more with the processing you choose.
Like Eric, I like the composition here too! The processing works so well and the coversion to black and white makes the image something other than the norm. I love the gritty textures and noise, it reminds me of a film photo, It's so interesting to look at and on black it is even more stunning. Fav Taffy!
@maggiemae Oh, I do wish this were Beaver Island! Still processing photos from Japan on this one, though...I suspect we'll never see anything like a ferris wheel here!
