Went to dinner and pre-Broadway preview of musical, Amazing Grace, with a friend to celebrate her birthday. Afterwards, with long lines for cabs we decided to walk a few blocks and catch a cab outside the theater area. We happened upon this building -- no idea what it was and didn't have time to sort it out as we caught a cab shortly after I took these shots. Combined 3 images using photomatix, then corrected the distortion with PT-Lens.
JT solved the mystery! It's the Three First National Plaza building and here's the link from JT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_First_National_Plaza
@voiceprintz Thanks JT! I'd never really noticed it -- probably because it's so much more dramatic at night. Thanks for the comment, visit, and mystery solving!!
I initially saw this as a pattern picture, but then viewing large started to explore the detail which adds to the interest of the picture after the initial impact as faded. (Plus of course very well processed).
This entrance way is certainly imposing and I like the way the internal structural elements are lit, emphasizing the transparency of the building. Nice one, Taffy
@loweygrace That's so interesting to actually know the composer! The music was quite beautiful and the cast's voices were really strong. The storyline is powerful -- the slave trade and its abolition in England as a backdrop to telling the story of the writer of Amazing Grace and what it refers to. I enjoyed it. It's in its pre-Broadway run, and there are some kinks I think they can work out. The second act was stronger than the first.
