Today we were socked in -- fog in every direction. This is the same building (the Merchandise Mart) with the deep golden lights, posted last week.
I've had almost no time for photography this weekend but wanted to thank you all for putting my Friday Afternoon Rush Hour onto Top Twenty this week -- very grateful, and it made my weekend brighter.
Fire Saga (boring update):
Good things:
1. Many of our clothes, shoes, boots, and coats were delivered Saturday morning. Included within this were some unusual things that show the level of care and detail the cleaning company has used. I received about 9 single socks that I must have been saving somewhere in hopes that a mate would reappear. So as not to have this be a waste, I held a 'singles sock party' this evening (see mundane challenge in extras album) which they very much enjoyed - http://365project.org/taffy/365/2014-11-29
2. We did not hear any bad news about our house, but then, we didn't hear any news at all. Holiday weekend. It was nice to not think about it for a few days.
Not so good things...
1. None really...just that nothing seems to be happening because of the holiday weekend.
2. Missing some key items of clothing so will need to have more delivered.
3. Seeing our clothes delivered and our closets fill up made me realize we have an absurd amount of possessions and should downsize. Am now reading a book on "Tidying" that has some interesting ideas.
Love your photo, Taffy. We have had some socked in fog too. Now we have rain, so badly needed. I am glad so much is showing up from your place. It is amazing what we accumulate and put aside. You forget as we put things aside in the event that we need them. So glad your place was not totally destroyed so that you are getting some of your things back. Agreed, I have to get rid of stuff or put light weight clothing in boxes and into our garage. I am out of room. Sounds like a really interesting book you are reading. Sorry I am so far behind. Holiday and overwhelmed with neighbor stuff still. I look forward to the day it is over and we can live in peace. FAV as your photo is awesome as always. You have a fabulous view.
Wow, you are fogged in.....wonderful capture! And, I know exactly how you feel about the amount of stuff we all accumulate.... I have been dealing with that ever since we finished the renovation. I have been trying to get organized ever since, and despite the fact that we have so much more closet space now we still have too much stuff!! I might be interested in that book....
Wow, thick fog.
I moved house this weekend too and the need to downsize / declutter is intense. Cannot believe that I did a whole bunch of that whilst packing, but still need to do more.
Fantastic shot, the fog gives it a mysterious feel. You are so lucky to be able to see so many different aspects of the weather from your temporary home.
This looks nice and soft with fog. Glad that things are looking up. And I relate to having too much stuff. We have filled all of our cupboards, and I'm sure we don't need it all.
Such a different mood in the mist, isn't it? I love it: it creates a veil in which you can selectively isolate individual subjects which normally is impossible.
Very cool shot. My brother-in-law was talking about the fog in Chicago yesterday so interesting to see it on here. It was also foggy in New Orleans yesterday, and foggy again today in Houston. haha
It sounds like you have a sock monster in your house!
We have been experiencing fog here too but unfortunately now when I've been able to make the most of it (i.e. photograph it!!) I like the subtle colours of the buildings and the geometric shapes which somehow seem to be accentuated by the fog.
Maybe this is a great opportunity to simplify your life. We all have too much "stuff". Who is the book by Taffy, I love that kind of book. I also like Peter Walsh's "It's all too much".

Thanks Sheralee, Osia, and Darlene! It's always such fun reading your comments. The book is a little hokey, but it's a very fun read. I did the kindle edition which was cheapest and it's perfectly fine to read electronically, and there are a lot of used ones as well. A quick read and fun, not deep reading at all: The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo
Have fun reading it if you do decide to order it.
I like this shot very much Taffy, you've captured the real damp and clammy feeling of fog very well indeed. I'm gonna get that book and read it. It's not for nothing I'm aka Captain Chaos.
Even with fog the view looks interesting! I am the original horder Taffy! I had to declutter when my sister moved in with me but already my drawers and wardrobes are overflowing! Plus I know most of it doesn't fit me any more! I find it so hard to get rid of clothes - but I know I must! Better read that book! Lol!
