Our New Years festivities for the past several years are with Bill and Junko - @jyokota - where we create a wonderful dinner, drink terrific wines (usually from Bill), watch a movie or two until the wee hours (yeah, we're really party animals), and Junko and I take photos - since joining 365, it has meant going up to our roof for a midnight shot. In our temporary dwelling, the roof deck was closed for winter so we made do from our window and balcony. We could hear but not see the main fireworks, but there were very sweet ones that were popping up across the city.
Hoping everyone had a wonderful evening of celebration! Welcome to new 365ers and congratulations to all who completed a year last night! Wishing you all a good year ahead, filled with health, happiness, and good photos.
What a wonderful sight and wonderful sentiments .All best wishes to you and yours in 2015 --lets hope it will not be too long until you leave the temporary home for your own home !
Happy New Year Taffy!
What a awesome shot love the fireworks, and lights as far as the eye can see!
Looking forward to viewing your lovely photos in 2015.
What a delightful New Year's photo taken at 12:05! You and Junko + spouses quality for the party-animal scene a bit more than Ken and I did... I thought I might hear fireworks, but it seems, if they happened, I was sleeping through them! On the up side, I woke up rested, scanned a requested pack of photos for my daughter, cleaned out three drawers in m,y dresser...and hmmm...5 PM...never got dressed for the day! (If Ken read this, he would say I was having a real Face book moment here... He teases me because I say I'm not a fan of vacuous comments on FB! Well, maybe eating crow in a new New Year 's Tradition!) Have a good one, ya'll!
this is beautiful Taffy! happy new year to you! i particularly like the little neighbourhood fireworks in this shot... perhaps not such a grand capture as if it were the main ones, but more "real" somehow...
That is really cool! The fireworks woke me up last night, it was the first time we've had fireworks around here. I should have thought to get out my camera but watched the ball drop on TV instead. Your tradition with your friends sounds lovely!
Oh me, oh my, what a view you have from your eyrie Taffy. I enjoyed studying your shot, even sans the main fireworks. Your NYE sounds not dissimilar to ours, except there were only two of us, and we watched the fireworks on TV. We are tantalisingly close to being able to see the Geelong fireworks, but just not quite. We're not prepared to join the seething masses down at the Waterfront, so home and the TV must suffice - no booze buses to negotiate either! Maggie didn't like the noise much, but doesn't seem to get really panicked thank goodness.
Some of my fave NYE's have included a visit in a penthouse condo on the near north side and able to watch fireworks across the city. There were no fireworks where I was last night but no great loss! I get to see them here!
A great New year Eve's capture! Congratulations on completing your second year! And thank you for your support and positive feedback. I've learned so much from you. Happy New Year!
Chicago looks to be all aglow on this NYE. It's been a delight seeing the Windy City through your eyes and your camera along with the other places you've shared this past year. Thanks for your interest and shared comments on my 2014 project. Here's to the year ahead of us.
@mrsvanpatten Definitely plan to do a photo walk when you are here in Chicago! What time of year is it likely to be? Probably best to send an email and let me know more of the details when you know what/when... send to teraphael 'at' gmail with the usual dot-com afterward.
Great shot, Taffy. Love the fireworks in your photo. Sounds like a fun New Years Eve to me. I did not see any fireworks and hubby went to sleep before I could have him at least light a sparkler to photograph. Happy New Year, Taffy. FAV
