Wow -- thank you all so much for your wonderful positive comments and favs for my lighthouse in winter shot! It is/was on Popular Page but even more exciting was to read what you thought of the area, the ice, the red pop, etc. I appreciate them so much! And thanks for the advice on how to find photos when reimporting them after photomatix -- it worked to use 'all photographs.'
This is another shot from the same photowalk, taken at the beach area on the way to the lighthouse area, also imported and processed in Lightroom.
Cool shot! Actually it looks COLD! And polar opposite to the beach I'm
sitting on right now where it's 78 degrees and the trade winds are gently blowing.
My gosh Taffy, this is another stunner, just outstanding work here. The two small figures are positioned in just the right place to lift the shot even further - if possible. Looks like a very interesting sort of place. I'm very impressed with the way you've been able to capture all the tonings and textures in the snow and ice. What I've read suggests that's a tough task. Fav, of course.
Wow!!! This is fantastic!!! Love the people in the background to show distance!!! And another FAV!!! Congratulations on making PP with your lighthouse!!! It was a gorgeous shot!!!
Great stuff, Taffy. You already know my opinions on this one. May I just add this: the more I think about the lack of detail in the sun spot, the more I feel that this is realism. The blown out sun simply adds to the feeling of the extreme brightness of the light and it should not be any different!
@pixelchix Great sense of humor! It was quite cool to have the chance to see a beach in winter, with the blowing snow spread throughout. Thanks for the visit.
@pamknowler HUGE help!!! Now my question is...when you do multiple processing of a single image, do you just use 'history' to find the various ones you liked, or do you create a new file? If the latter, how do you create a duplicate file in LR?
@taffy Not sure I understand exactly what you are asking. I normally use three separate photos which I export to Photomatix to combine them. I export them back into LR and find the new photo in All Pictures. I then edit again in LR to get rid of noise etc. I may even take into PS if I want to clone something out. If I wanted to do multiple processing of a single image I think i would make virtual copies (use right click on the mouse over the photo for dropdown list) Then I would copy the original plus two copies into Photomatix. I think that you would be asked what you want done as all three shots would have the same exposure. You can then say add + or - whatever you want. It would then combine the three shots to an HDR image. Hope this makes sense. I wish we could sit side by side - so much easier!!
@pamknowler Thanks for the response -- the main question is if I have a single image in LR and I want to crop it (or process in some way) three different ways, how do I make three versions of the same photo so that I can easily find the end result of each of the processings I do. Is it doing the right click while over the photo?
@taffy Yes Taffy if you want to process the same image three different way then right click on the photo to create a virtual copy and you can make as many virtual copies as you like. When you work on the different photos they sometime stack and you need to double click on the photo to see them all. If you work on one image in LR but are not happy with it - click the reset and it reverts to the original Image. I only shoot in Raw and my photos are converted to Digital Negatives as they are imported to LR. I never do Jpeg plus Raw - it would take up too much space.
Okay, I was here awhile ago but then went off and looked at Daniel's photo and then got to reading your exchanges with him about LR and the Frank's comments about PS and, well, time got away from me! I'm back to say this is a great, expansive image. That's just a whole lot of ice!
As for the Mittens and Mug picture, I really wanted it at a different angle, more looking downwards on the cup, or something of that nature. Perhaps another time, with different gloves and mug, of course. Can't be caught wearing the same thing twice! :)
Out of all 3 photos I have just faved this one is my favourite. I love this composition and the feeling of desolation and that everything just goes on forever and ever. Stunning and glad this made TT too.
@jamibann Thanks! So funny -- I suspect we all have looked at so many of each other's photos that it's easy to forget. I find myself fav'ing something and getting the message about whether I really want to 'un-fav' -- where I've also forgotten I saw it and loved it!
