We spent a lot of time at Mesquite Dunes -- photo shoots at sunrise and sunset. This was our first photo walk, at sunset, on our first evening at the Death Valley photo workshop @jyokota and I took. The dunes turn golden at the moment just before the sun goes behind the mountain, with great long shadows everywhere. I liked this version because of the contrast of the soft dunes and the mountains behind. I'll be posting a wide angle shot of this area taken in the morning on our last morning before heading to the airport for our flight home.
I took a wide angle shot a few days later at sunrise. You can see the angle to compare by looking at the 'small' mountain just behind and to the right of the tall dune.
I like this because of the long lines coming from the top of the soft dunes, spilling down their side, in the fading light, contrasted with the crisper lines of the mountains. What a great photography environment... thanks for sending these out our way. :)
The dunes in the foreground are so seamless and smooth-they don't even look real! Great contrast between those and the textured dunes farther out
Fabulous!
Love the golden glow -- but mine didn't have much of a blue sky. So funny that we almost posted such similar ones. I chose an evening pink sky instead with swoopy lines that Alyssa really liked.
Those sand dunes look almost unreal with the stark contrast on the mountains behind. What an out of this world landscape! Love the dune itself with those beautiful shadows and golden colour! Wonderful Taffy! Fav!
A beautiful view. Love the contrast between the sand dunes in front with the mountains in the back. Lovely golden glow on the sand. Did you consider cropping the sky? It would make for a great abstract capture with only the dunes and mountains and all those brown/golden colours
Beauty! Great contrast between the smooth dune and rough mountain, excellent time of the day to catch the shadows, and the footprints and disturbed ridge of the dune are the cherry on the cake!
Fabulous!
