My third (and final) landscape for the challenge @shepherdmanswife Chantal gave me to post three landscapes. I've been so far behind, but at last, this shot was taken, processed, and posted all on the same day! Still using LR5 - though this included combining 3 bracketed shots because the lighting was so different from sky to land, and then processing the combined image.
Stunning Taffy!! I can't even begin to comprehend your technique, but I know I love it. Maybe I'll venture out more in my 3rd year..coming up soon. Yours shots are so inspiring! Super fav
Very, very interesting shot!! The foreground has a very surreal, otherworldly feel to it as it seems to be illuminated by a different light source than the setting sun! It is almost like another moon is rising somewhere high up on the right, and flooding the place with eerie light!
Wow what a contrast in light!! The fabulous sky and the cold look of the buildings. Well done with your processing here Taffy - difficult conditions!! Fav!
@taffy I was basically asking you . I don't believe it can. HDR EFX Pro is a plugin for LR. I purchased that before Google bought NIK software. After they bought it, they gave me a link to download the entire suite. I mostly use Silver EFX Pro, and HDR EFX Pro
@bill_fe Ah! I didn't think so either. I had also bought Nik suite and use primarily silver EFX and occasionally color EFX. I used HDR EFX for a while but switched to Photomatix (works the same way -- as a plug-in) as I felt I had more control and it didn't have the HDR EFX tendency to halo and over-process.
@pamknowler@francoise Hi Pam and Francoise -- that's exactly what caught my eye! It was frigid looking with the snow on the buildings, and then as the sun was setting, the sky had these amazing clouds. Using the graduated density filter in LR helped bring out the patterns more, but the contrast was quite intriguing (enough that even Jim mentioned it and wondered if I was going to photograph it!).
Fab image, love the steelblue lighting on the buildings in the foreground and the little layer of mist in the background going over in those great clouds fav
@joansmor Thanks for the visit, and for asking about the rebuild. Progress is slow but steady. They're almost done with the cleaning up and are starting to build out the wall studs. We're moving in the phase of ordering cabinets, appliances, etc. Still takes an inordinate amount of time and it's hard to believe this far out. It's gotten too mundane and repetition to post about, but as things speed up, I think I'll use my album again to track things. Also got a lot busier with work mixed in, compared to right after the fire.
@taffy I had a small remodel in my kitchen and couldn't believe the amount of time it took. And picking out things. UGH by the time it came to the overhead light I told the contractor to pick it. BUt I love my kitchen now and I was all worth it. So just remember there is another side to this eventually.
