I arrived at the golf course a few minutes early (yes, 2 days in a row, but squeezing a lot in on our last day on the island for who knows how long), and the rabbits were quite entertaining. This was one of two who were rather curious about what I had in my hand, then realized it wasn't food, and off they went.
Thank you for the wonderful comments on the stacked rocks! I ended up editing it in pic-monkey to get rid of the dark corner, and that meant changing its shape a bit, but I appreciated the suggestions and think it's improved. And it ended up on PP -- so very pleased!
@888rachel Funny you should mention that, Rachel...there are actual cases (I've had it happen) of a ball disappearing in the middle of the fairway when you know exactly where it landed. Down a rabbit hole... But better a ball than walking into one and spraining an ankle. They used to be all over the golf course AND the airport ('Hareport') next door. They had to get the population under control as rabbits do what rabbits do and it had gotten dangerous. Sadly, I don't want to think about how they controlled it...
I actually had to jump back at one point. This one and another one (this one is female and the other male as I came to find out a few minutes later!) had no fear and were sort of starting to jump up toward my camera lens! They're used to little kids feeding them when their parents bring them to the course. They lost interest in me and the one began amorous advances to the one pictured here, who was more interested in nibbling on grass and kept hopping off. Quite entertaining...
I am laughing about your comments... "Hareport" is comedically descriptive, as is the springtime "dance of love," when they figured out that no food was on the way. Lovely contrasting colors on this little bunny... and a wonderfully close POV. :)
She has such interesting fur- I don't think I've ever seen one so speckled before. The deer in the back yard are starting to do the same thing. They will come closer and closer to me to see if I'm bringing them any food. But when I raise the camera up, off they go!
Wow I have never seen a rabbit so bold! They always scurry away as soon as they see me! Mind you that could be Finlay trying to catch them! Lol! Great closeup and lovely detail of his speckly fur.
@photographycrazy Thanks for the visit! Golf round was the best of the summer -- a great way to end the season (9 hole course and I broke 50 by one stroke, and was on the fairway each hole (instead of rough, poison ivy, and weeds).
@photographycrazy The key is not to worry about how good you get at golf. I'll never make a 10 handicap as I'd never give up photography time to practice my swing!
Lovely capture of this hungry wabbit!! As for the amorous one, and the population control, I am pretty sure they capture them and outfit them with IUDs or perform vasectomies!! I mean how else would you control a rampant bunny overpopulation!! ;-)))
