Back to sorting through some shots from our NYC visit...a gray and rainy, and busy day today.
When @jyokota Junko and I were in NYC, we were starting our walk on the High Line when this photographer caught our attention. He was using the DSLR to take photos through the second SLR camera. We saw him along the walk. Junko asked him what it was, but it turned out he was not an English speaker, so he could only respond to our question by explaining that it was a camera. We found it quite interesting and mystifying how this system worked!
Thanks for your kind comments on the Rookery shots, and the fun ones re the purple dress code memo for rock and guy!
Ok, that is a very interesting way to shoot. It looks like they have gone too a lot of effort to make or get adapters to make it work. I hope their results are worth it.
Someone here posted a bunch of photos like this. Shooting through the lens of another camera has an interesting look. Looks like these guys managed to work out a solution for lining up the lenses.
I didn't realize you had caught this and when I scrolled down and saw it, I thought, "Oh, that NYC photographer who had a camera!" :) Still baffled. Good capture, though!
Great find. He seems to be using an extension tube for macro photography on the dslr and the Twin-Lens-Reflex Cameras (TLR) as lens. I guess what are they looking at. Very interesting and intriguing setting.
Interesting shot. I have just asked David about this one and he said that the chap has a Cokin filter on the front of his camera and he is looking through a Rolleiflex camera viewfinder with the lens pointing upwards, presumably aimed at a building or statue etc. to get a special effect photo using the filter.
Very interesting setup.....that looks like a Hasselblad he is holding at the end of his DSLR, or, Rolleiflex as Babs mentioned....whatever it is it seems like a lot of work....would be nice to see the results. Did you take this shot of them before or after Junko engaged them in conversation?
What a strange set up! I have never seen or heard of anyone doing this. Love to know what the result was and was it worth all that effort? Great street scene!
Well talk about pushing the limit to the next level. What an interesting find you have here, I too wonder what the result will be. Just yesterday I was playing around with old lenses and cameras I purchased from and estate sale of a photographer & collector. Love your composition & especially in b&w as always.
