Taffy let Danbo and me, P3 (Professor Percival Penguin) out from our little pockets tonight for something VERY exciting! It's a party! And it was supposed to be a surprise for Taffy! But Jim thought she might not be happy if people surprised her and she was still in pajama's on account of being almost retired and sometimes not leaving the house. But maybe it was so she would help get ready for the party since the house needed cleaning up and he would still be at class when the food came. But anyway, none of that matters because WE ARE INVITED!!!! And Danbo will be teaching me to play Dreidel which is a game where you spin the dreidel (like spinning a top) and then the letter it lands on tells you whether you get something (all or half the 'pot'), give something, or get a pass. We play it with chocolate coins so we have to watch that Taffy doesn't cheat.
So Taffy's busy getting ready for the not quite surprise party (who is coming? are the students the guests tonite to celebrate the end of the semester? is it for her birthday that is really next week and someone else is coming? is it for retiring? We don't know who is coming or what to wear!).
And btw, bokeh -- behind us -- is for her mentor group's theme. It's so nice getting out of the pocket for a whole night! Maybe we'll be able to post about the party tomorrow. Time to go and see if we can be helpful. We hope you all have a nice night and Taffy will see you later (if the party ends early) or tomorrow to comment.
So glad to see P3 and Little Danbo out and about again, and what better excuse than a party? Love the bokeh Taffy. Don't know the Hebrew (or Yiddish), but have a wonderful celebratory Hannukah, or should that be Chanukah? Don't eat too many latkes!
Oh yes a party! Happy whatever it is! How wonderful a surprise too! Well up until the day that is and I suppose Jim had to tell you as he knows you wouldn't be happy if you were not dressed when the guests arrived! The bokeh is gorgeous and makes a beautiful dreamy backdrop! A lovely setup all round with the dreidel behind P3 and Danbo.. Enjoy your celebrations! Fav!
Sivivon, sov, sov, sov! Miss Ann just taught the Critters a Hanukkah song and we're all singing it now. We love your picture and all the bokeh- it makes us think of white chocolate which we now have to go find some! Great shot and Happy Hanukkah Danbo and P3!
What a super shot, what great commentary and what a fabulous 'surprise' party to have. I look forward to finding out all about it, and hopefully seeing a photo or two. Jim sounds like a honey. :-)
The bokeh is fantastic, Taffy. From what I got from this fun narrative is that Taffy is about to celebrate her birthday. So happy birthday to you - have a great day.
Your group has inspired me to try bokeh which I only get by accident. But love you stay in your pj's as I do too on my off days. Thinking I need more PJ's.
Love this creative shot! That bokeh is beautiful. Got to really learn how to make it happen - know the basics but can't say I totally understand it. It just happens on occasion! Hope it was a wonderful evening.
Party away there. What a thoughtful husband arranging it and then getting you to get the place ready, only joking danbo and penguin are foing to enjoy it. Oh Happy Birthday for next week
Your bokeh is a treat... they look as though they are in clouds. I am laughing about being in pjs. Sounds about right to me! Hope you enjoyed the party... lots of good reasons to celebrate.
@kelly2 Thanks Irene...and you hit the nail on the head! Guess who got to clean up?? But it was great fun and he'd invited all my advisees which was sweet.
Perfectly created bokeh, story and image -- too bad you had to use that foil for food or I could have reused it as "appropriately seasoned" foil! I'm wondering-- should I or should I not post that photo of your footwear during this festive night?

Finally a set-up bokeh project. Used a flashlight, an overhead light, and 85mm lens.
Happy Chanukah, birthday, retirement, you name it!
