Today Jim and I celebrated my birthday since I'd been in Barcelona on the actual day, seeing Star Wars and then going for dinner, getting a present (a Fitbit so I can track exercise - no hidden agenda on Jim's part as I've been wanting one for awhile). Then, I watched the season finale of Homeland. Between Star Wars and Homeland, I was so depressed that I looked for the most colorful image I had from the trip. And it fit the Fitbit idea to get healthy.
Oh, that's too funny....I have been wanting a Fitbit myself, and been bugging hubby about it for Christmas!! Which one did you get? Can't wait to compare notes with you! Love the LB effect on this shot....yes, it's very cheerful and colorful! And, Happy Birthday, if I have not wished you already!!
Wonderful colourful image! A happy shot! Now I have heard of fitbit but not sure what it does. Perhaps this is what I need to get my fitness campaign started? Lol!
Happy Birthday! So colorful. I had to attend a holiday party last night so I have the Homeland finale on the tivo. Looking forward to seeing it and Star Wars.
Happy, happy birthday! Fabulous use of the Lensbaby; and I love the bright, luscious colors. Markets are a feast for the senses, aren't they? And a photographer's dream, too! FAV!
@panthora Thanks Osia! I got the "One" that clips on, rather than the wrist strap. It's the same as a few of my friends have and they are very happy with it. Just got it set up last night and charged, so today's the first day. Mostly I think it's important to remind me when I'm being a slug and need to get out and walk!
@pamknowler It's a clever device that is designed to keep you aware of how many steps you are taking in a single day. It does other stuff too -- here's a description:
A clip-mounted module motivates you to achieve your fitness goals by calculating steps taken, calories burned and distance traveled throughout the day, lighting up to indicate your real-time progress. The Flex wirelessly syncs your stats to your computer or smartphone, then measures hours and quality of sleep before silently waking you in the morning.
And a link so you can see what model I have: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/fitbit-one-wireless-activity-sleep-tracker/3766008?cm_mmc=Bing_PLA-_-datafeed-_-unisex%3Arecreation_entertainment%3Asports_equipment-_-745828&mr%3AreferralID=a8d6857d-a7f9-11e5-a012-005056947d48
You are supposed to have a minimum of 3000 (or maybe it's 5000) steps a day, so it's a real eyeopener on those days of being a total slug!! With walking Finlay, you probably get out no matter what.
@taffy Thanks for that Taffy I am going to check it out and see if I can order it in the UK. I need a rocket to get me going at the moment so this sounds just the thing to give me an incentive to move!! So if you are wearing it all the time does it take into account when you are doing housework etc? I suppose it's any movement.
@pamknowler Yes, I clipped it to my pjs this morning (lazy morning waiting for conference calls to start) and it's clocked about 60 steps from just wandering around emptying dishwasher, cleaning kitchen, etc. And there is a wrist band to wear it at night as it tracks sleep patterns (thought I'm not clear what you would do with that info anyway!). It 'talks' to your smart phone so you can check steps, etc. on that as well as look at the device. Junko has had one for years, and I have a few other friends -- some clip it on, some carry in pocket. And the price has dropped pretty much everywhere so look for a 20% off price point (at least in US, not sure about UK).
@golftragic Thanks Marnie. I really do not like the model I bought. It requires me to hand hold the focus as I press the shutter. There are models that allow you to focus and hold that and then you can go to the shutter speed. Junko has the same one I do, but knows the model that we'd both have preferred if we'd done sufficient research first. If I could sell mine and get the other one, I'd do that!
Merry Christmas to you and Jim as well! Lovely to be back in your home for the Holiday!
