Wrigley Reappears in B&W by taffy

Wrigley Reappears in B&W

I have been debating whether to do the Splash of Red this year as I'm not all that consistent with photographing. But I do love this challenge. So here is my February 1st color shot (now in extras album) reworked to be b&w to start off the month right! Like the color version, it's much more clear and interesting on black as it brings out the foreground which is lost in this smaller version against the white.
Thank you for your wonderful response to the color version, which made it to PP!
If you get a chance, please welcome my friend and colleague to 365. I've been talking to her about joining for over a year so am very excited she's on board! Her album post from today (and yesterday - she's catching up today): http://365project.org/feniceb/365/2016-02-02

@feniceb Thanks Fenice! See how this works? I clicked 'reply' and it automatically sends you notification that you have a 'mention' -- if you look at the top of your menu bar, you'll see that there's a red flag by notifications, which means you have a message. Click on it and it will tell you who the message(s) are from. And I'm glad you liked this!

Wonderful in B&W!

Terrific detail.

Nice!

Fav! For some reason, the light on the clock is perfect to me in this version as opposed to the color.

Fav - this looks wonderful in b&w. Love the contrasts
February 3rd, 2016
Done that! You set a great example for photography, Taffy!
February 3rd, 2016
Oh, the background building fairly stands out when you put it into black and white. And yes, you must view it against black - everything is so much more detailed. Nice capture. Off to visit your friend!

Got sidetracked visiting your friend! Lol! This is great in b&w Taffy especially on black as all the detail in the shadows comes out! A very different feel to your colour version - so interesting to compare the two! Fav!

And looking so wonderfully dramatic. Great light and detail.

I am a big fan of b&w and I love the dramatic look of this version, but I have to admit that I do love the golden glow of the colour photo better.

Love the way you've captured the light in this and the detail is amazing.

Very bold. Massive contrast giving a huge range of emotions from the bright happy sunlight to the deep underbelly sense of foreboding of the shadows.

Great shot! I love it in colour but it is amazing in B&W too! :)

Nice in mono too!

@pamknowler Thanks for visiting Fenice's page! I'm hoping she'll have time to keep up the daily pace -- but she has a lot re work so it will be a challenge.

works in b&w but I think is stunning in color.

Congratulations on making the Trending Page. Well deserved.

Nicely shot

Very nice.
FAV.

But I am confused as to what the Splash of Red challenge is given the shots seem to be appearing in black and white....?

@stevecameras In the discussion thread, Ann (@olivetreeann) has been hosting the month of b&w. http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/27269/flash-of-red-february-week-3
The Flash of Red comes from on Feb 14th, the photo should include red.
Thanks for the kind comment, too!
February 14th, 2016
@taffy Thank you for that...I think the confusion is that a lot of the photos don't seem to have any red in :)

@stevecameras I agree - I was totally confused the first time I paid attention and further, I had no idea how to do selective color anyway, so the whole thing was a mystery to me the first year!
