The Housekeeper and Her Keys by taffy

The Housekeeper and Her Keys

Mrs. Hughes was always so impeccably dressed, with those huge keys dangling from her belt. Much more elegant than custodians today!
Thank you for your kind comments yesterday on Lady Mary and Matthew meeting for dinner in the library.
Beautiful textures, dof and capture. Very fastidious looking dress.

Oh gosh, can you imagine getting done up like that for work every day? Yikes. Love the way you've brought out the details in this costume Taffy.

Well done!!!

@golftragic No kidding! Especially in my current state of living in my yoga pants! These costumes were amazing - many made from vintage fabrics too, so very delicate looking. Dressing would take forever.

Lovely details! Fancy having to carry those huge keys around all day! Delicate lace cuffs for a housekeeper. Just shows she had a high position in the big house!

A serious house keeper, somehow terrifying.

She even has a pair of scissors dangling with those keys. Looks like her outfit was beautiful, too. Great in b&w.

With clothes like that it's easier to understand aprons.

What wonderful detail. You've really brought out the pattern in the fabric beautifully. Looks wonderful in b&w.

Wow, so interesting. Excellent shot.

I think that was called a chatelaine. Ladies would also suspend other, small, useful items from the chains.
Well composed and the light on the chain and the keys make them stand out well from the dark dress. The light on the embroidery is pleasing but it doesn't overpower your main subject.

I wonder what the big key was for - the cellar when she had locked Lord whatsit in?
