While we are excited about our move back to Skybridge, we are leaving a wonderful neighborhood called Little Italy. We took a break from packing to walk to a restaurant literally around the corner and sit in their courtyard for dinner tonight. The weather, blue hour, and festive party celebrating across from us was poignant. We won't be far from here even with the move, but no longer a walk around the corner.
It's funny I still miss my old house and the area I lived in for over 25 years even though I now have a nicer house and its lovely where I am now. At least you have lived in Skybridge and know what to expect. You will still be able to visit your old neighbourhood but sometimes it's best to look forward and find new places and memories. It can be difficult though. Take care and enjoy your new adventure when it starts!
Cool shot. Love the gathering of people spending time together. One thing I hate nowadays is to see two or more people sitting together and more interested in their mob than in their friends.
I am sure you will have lots of new places to discover in your new home. From my experience you can never go back, you just have to keep moving forward. Hope the move is going well.
I've always loved the sentiment expressed in the first line of The Go-Between by L.P. Hartley - "The past is a foreign country, they do things differently there."
What a wonderful city you live in. Our son applied for a job in Chicago when he worked for CNN. I'm glad he didn't get it because I think he would have stayed in the US if he had.
So glad you and Jim could enjoy a pleasant, nostalgic, night out amid the stress and busy of moving. I am excited for you both, in your new adventure, but leaving behind yesterday can be poignant. Hang in there!
Looks like a real fun local eatery, no wonder you'll be sad to leave the area. Moving is always a two-edged sword, but you already know how good Skybridge will be.
Looks like such a fun place. Glad you will still be very close. Best of luck with your move. You know you will be a lot happier and that is what is important. I need to catch up and see when you move.
It looks like a fun place to be. I'm sure that you will soon settle in at Skybridge once the date has been set and I think when we move house, it's always a case of mixed emotions - anticipation of the new but also a bit of a loss from the home you have enjoyed so many times in with great memories. btw Fav
This reminds me of Renoir's festive paintings- people enjoying good food and company, smiles, laughter, and usually painted from the seated pov and right in the middle of things. Fun shot.
You can feel the ambience in this shot Taffy, I love it. Your description matches exactly what you captured... It's so neat and I'm sorry you won't have it at walking distance anymore. Love Ann's comment that it's reminiscent of a Renoir painting, I agree!
Lovely candid shot of your fav restaurant.
