Thanks for all your kind words and wishes of luck in the move. I've been packing all day and have made a dent -- we have to pack those things we are storing in an accessible place (friend's house -- 365 photo friend, in fact) if the worse case scenario happens and our things are in storage for the year. Hoping it won't come to that, but just in case. Movers pack the rest on Friday. This image was taking at our company's leadership retreat in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The river area has really been renovated and is quite nice at night. Of course, I didn't bring a tripod, so this was taken on a walk one night, sitting my camera on one bridge and shooting toward other bridges -- finally figured out 3 second delay on my Nikon after 4 years! Duh...very easy to do, it turns out. You just have to know to set it on the menu AND turn a little dial to the clock!
Will likely disappear again unless we make great progress packing Friday and can take the weekend off awaiting the move on Tuesday. Wishing everyone a great holiday weekend!
Fav. Love the shot despite the lack of a tripod. I still have to fathom the 3 second delay. In fact I worked with a Nikon and lenses in the old dayd but have got lazy and use my iPhone. All the best for your packing.
Nice of you to check in! Many changes are happening now for you and Jim... sounds frenetic. Lovely blues and night tones, along with the repetitive arch shapes of the bridge. Fingers crossed, for a smooth transition!
I have been thinking about you all week and wondering how you are getting on! I wish you had some positive news 're Skybridge - all so unsettling fir you and Jim. I know it will all be worth it in the end! Hope you are able to have a restful weekend - don't overdo it! (Silly to tell you Taffy to slow down and take it easy I know!) Lol!
Lovely imAge even without tripod! Fav!
My night shots are all like that - the tripod remains in the car booth and then I look for somewhere/thing to support my camera on. This shot came out really nice; the view is lovely and I like the softness of the water.
Lovely shot and good luck with the packing. I hate packing, being ex military we have moved 16 times and lived in three different countries so know all about packing and putting things in storage. No more moves for us though now. Hope all goes well.
Pretty darn awesome long exposure with a makeshift tripod! No need to feel any pressure here. You have more than enough on your plate. Hope it goes as smoothly as possible
Great shot Taffy and like Pam, I too have been thinking about you and Jim and hoping that the move goes OK. Take care and email your new address to us when you know where you will be.
Wishing you all the best on your move! It's something how long packing up can take but it'll feel so good once you're finally moved in. Brilliant photo! The lights, color, and smoothness of the water all look fantastic!
So glad you are doing as ok as you can be. What a lot of work. Why maybe a year to move in or have things in storage? Are the current renters not moving out yet? Thinking of you and your hubby. Breath! Beautiful photo by the way. Smart move with the tripod. Oh, I am still on auto for the most. Wish I had a Nikon to talk Nikon language. I have a Sony and need to be brave to use Manual settings. FAV
Beautiful shot. Good luck with the move. That little dial can be tricky. My D750 was not sounding right for half a day. It turns out it was on the quiet shutter setting. I felt so silly.
