Sigh...our house is sold, our contents in storage, and we are now living with Bill & Junko @jyokota til we leave for Beaver Island in the next week or so. What a month, and what a lot of uncertainty ahead but with the island on the horizon, all seems calm. We close on our new condo on the 15th of June, but occupancy timing is unknown til the current renters find their home.
I received a lovely (and gigantic) box of Chocolates from the "Chicago-2016" UK contingent -- thank you Sarah, Pam, Rosie, and Donna! -- so perfectly timed for Junko and me to have a photo-play before the chocolates started disappearing. Here's Professor Percival Penguin (P3) worshipping his favorite piece before he devoured it.
Looking forward to checking in a bit more regularly now, and back to normal once we get settled on the island.

Having my last little look on 365 before I go to bed and what a lovely surprise to see your post! So pleased all seems calm for you now and how lovely to be going to Beaver Island next week! What fun to see P3 in front of the huge chocolate! I hope it was as tasty as it looks! Lovely processing Taffy! So good to see you back! Fav
Love it, very clever and great processing. Hope all goes well with your new venture. It is quite daunting moving house sometimes isn't it. We have done it 16 times during our military days and it is the limbo stage which is the most difficult. Hope you are able to relax on Beaver Island.
Congrats on the new condo! I'm sure it will all come around quicker than you think (probably just after you get settled on the island!). Wow P3 you are one lucky penguin!! Piggy and the Critters are quite jealous as Miss Ann must refrain from chocolate for a while. (too many sad faces to put here!)
I did not catch up why you are selling the house, I hope it is a planned move. Beaver Island sounds like an exciting place, I remember those photos you took. All the best.
@yaorenliu We loved the high rise we lived in while our house was being reconstructed after the fire. Then, we found out we could buy it, though renters are there for a while. All in all, we'll be able to move back eventually. Sold our house since the timing was right (all was new). If it weren't for the renters, it would have worked out perfectly!
Goodness gracious. At least you had somewhere to go. I am glad for that. And nice to have Beaver Island as well. I hope that all goes ok and you guys can move into your new home soon. This is a great photo and a delicious one at that. I love all the black and white and the way you set it up too. I also love the burst in the top right. Nicely done. You make my mouth water with the chocolate. I am trying to stop eating it, my one big downfall in life. My sugar level is suddenly higher than normal so making changes. Super hard to do but doable when presented with the alternative. I need to exercise to which outside walking is too hot at this point. I could go on and on but will not bore you as I know you have a lot to do and have been through a ton yourself. Hang in there as things always work out. Happy days ahead. Hugs!
Fun shot! The truffle looks yummy. You've had quite a year and now getting ready for another new beginning in your new home! Wishing you all the best in the coming months.
Love it, love it. P3 is being very restrained methinks. Rapt to hear you've sold your house, that's a big one ticked off the list. Enjoy Beaver Island and a well-earned battery recharge. BTW, Altar not Alter???? Sorry, couldn't resist.
I wouldn't do like P3, I would just jump onto the chocolate and devour it. Cool capture. Hope you can settle down very quickly. Looking forward for shots from Beaver Island.
P3 is, quite rightly, gazing in awe - chocolate deserves respect, and eating. :)
I hope you are able to relax and enjoy your time on the island - you must be very much in need of a break from all the hustle, bustle and stress.
Will enjoy your photos from Beaver Island and will keep my fingers crossed that the renters house hunt has early success. But staying with Junko for a while must be fun.
@joansmor Thanks Joan. Yes, it's quite comfortable and relaxing to hang out with long-time friends. Time will go quickly I think, for heading "up north" which to us means Beaver Island.
hehe... To you of the British contingent, "Good Choice!" I can now say you'd asked me to find out what Taffy's favourite flowers were, but she seemed to not be so much a Flower Child as Charlie in the Chocolate Factory! @pamknowler and the rest! Taffy, you four will have a wonderful time visiting, even as you're sort-of without a home! Enjoy the island; I know you will! As for us, I think I'm busier-by-degrees every summer! Of course I bring a lot of it on myself (and I love all the activity!) but morning-to-night at present is filled! Tell Junko that one of last year's opera singers from Berlin is here studying composition this time (she's also an amazing pianist!) and will be staying with us all next week, so I'm looking forward to the house being filled with music! We'll have been to 4 concerts this week by tomorrow afternoon! I believe I could use some sequestration to catch up here! I have the photos, but little time! ♥ to all of you!
Have been thinking of you! You close on the day I leave for Paris (with record high river flooding) . Enjoy Beaver Island and be gentle in yourself. There's just so much ine can do in a day. I'm drowning these days and am just can't take "one mire thing" (like the AC went out--Aaaarrrgggg). Tell Junko hello!! At least you have awesome friends with whom to rest your head! ♡♡♡♡
I am so pleased to hear that your sale went through, now I shall keep my fingers crossed for the 15th. My best wishes to Junko too, I hope her arm is healing as it should be! I doubt I will see you before you head for Beaver Island, but will look forward to catching up late summer/fall!
@taffy Most likely! Nik arrives home from London on Saturday, but I don't see why that should make a difference about meeting up on Monday. Let me know what time boat tour.
@ukandie1 I'm guessing it will stay on Monday but was checking just in case. Knew your email has been erratic so used this instead. After this, will text.
Always stressful moving home - I wish you all the best with it.
I hope you are able to relax and enjoy your time on the island - you must be very much in need of a break from all the hustle, bustle and stress.
Best wishes. Fav.
