I was fascinated by this plant and took several shots. Only after I downloaded did I notice the spider hiding under the leaf. No idea what the plant is.
Thanks for your wonderful response to my poppy! It was lucky that there was enough breeze to make the petals move but not so much that it was impossible to get a clear shot. It was fun to see it on PP.
Could it be this Taffy http://365project.org/thistle/365/2016-05-22 All I can tell you is that it's carnivorous. I have two in pots on the patio but have managed to lose the labels! perhaps someone else will know more. Great shot whatever it is!
Love the spider hiding - I only saw him after reading your narrative. This does look a bit like a Venus fly trap. I wonder if the plant is getting ready for it's dinner? Lol! Great image! Fav!
@mikegifford I admit to total gullibility -- but really?? I thought on the island we didn't have any poisonous things. I know all our snakes are safe, at least!
@thistle I bet it's the same plant. My hiking buddy (Vckey) said it was in the pitcher plant family, and they are carnivorous so it makes total sense. Very cool that you had one growing in your garden!
