Conversation tonight:
Me to Jim: What do you think? Do you like it?
Jim looking at image: [dead silence]
Me to Jim: You don't have to say you like it.
Jim to me: Looks pretty sad.
Me to Jim: It's supposed to.
Jim to me: Then I guess you succeeded.
So lucky to have deep conversations about art...
Created using some new toys from Topaz and the old standby of Topaz Textures.
Nice shot and details I wonder did you try processing in B&W. I did a sunflower in similar decay a few months back and yhe B&W really brought the details out. Just an idea :)
It's not easy to make a sunflower look sad but this one does look sad! Had to laugh as it's the opposite with Jeff. Me: How do you like this shot? (Grandkids with 4 facing the camera and 1 with his back to the camera- which I think is funny). Jeff: Well, if you were trying to capture their personalities you can definitely see Lucy's coming through. And Isaac is living up to his name as he's laughing. Too bad Sam is looking down, well, actually, that's really like Sam and his love for trucks, playing like that. Wow- Leigh looks different in this shot. I guess it's because her hair is braided. She just looks so different. But Micah, I wish he was facing the camera (pause) but, you know, now that I look at it more closely that adds a lot of character to the shot and even though only Leigh and Isaac are looking directly at the camera because the others aren't you've brought out movement and childhood in their poses. So, on second thought I think I like this. Yeah, this is a great shot!" Me: That was supposed to be a 'yes' or 'no' question.
Oh, dear... this gave me a good laugh, despite the intentions of the shot. Our loved ones are pressed into service as supportive art critics - a role they did NOT sign up for, but are willing to undertake. Super "declining" edit.
Sad yes, but it's still full of colour!
Great shot Taffy.
