Lower level (baggage claim) at O'Hare last weekend. Crowds are building for holiday travel. This was taken as I was returning to Chicago. We leave again on Thursday for a 3 week holiday -- to warmth -- can't wait!
@maggiemae San Jose de Los Cabos -- the Baja peninsula in Mexico. VERY excited as our plan is 3 weeks of nothing to do. We're going with close friends of almost 40 years. Junko and Bill are coming down for a week, which will be fun. And then on return we move into a rental in the city while we wait for renters from h--- to get our of our condo.
@taffy I think this choice will be wonderful - might see some whales! Obviously you have to give notice to the tenants. When we gave 6 weeks notice that was the minimum, they stopped paying!!
Nice shot. I like the lines too. Cannot imagine traveling on the holiday. Have a great time in the warm weather and fun with friends. Wow, that has been a long wait for the renters to move. I hope they get out soon so you guys can move into your condo. Merry Christmas though imagine you will be posting while you are gone.
With the weather you've been experiencing right now, the lure of that warmth can't come soon enough I'm sure! 3 weeks of missing Chicago winter - what a Christmas present! Love your shot here - so sharp and love the lines - great choice for b&w.
@maggiemae Chicago laws favor tenants...and a typical lease allows them to extend their contract by a year, which they've done despite saying they would work with us in good faith (when they bought their own condo last july!). We have no clue why they aren't moving out! But legally, they have a right, sadly. So we are up in the air unless they choose to move out. At least they have to leave by July 31, and then our renovations can begin -- we'll be able to move in by October, we hope!
Thought of you while watching the weather today . Chicago in the teens ... brrrrrr...... Not looking forward to it heading my way. Can't believe you are still dealing with those renters ... Have a great vacation ... Very cool POV
@joysabin Not sure what you mean about the phone? Must admit I was using my regular DSLR -- I'd carried it to Boston and back without taking a single shot and decided that had been a total waste, so as I was leaving the plane, I got it out and decided to take at least one shot! Put it away after this one, only to need it again when I missed the train. At least it made it worth having carried it!
@taffy The three up front in the shot seem to be on the phone. I take cell shots all the time, I haven't upgraded my phone because I like the camera. I just hope that it lasts a bit longer, 3 years.
@joysabin AH! NOW I get it! "All" on the phone are the folks...not 'all the shots!' I hadn't even picked up on that. Thanks! I'll be that every other person I passed had their phone on and was looking at it.
Looks busy. I don't need to go to warmth for a holiday but I would love to go for some snow. I will be off on Friday for a short trip to Turin in Italy to watch a football match.
Wonderful capture, the feeling of the low overhead, alternating strips
of dark and light, chap on the phone, the people in the distance, yes definitely a baggage claim area captured
Great image Taffy - love the zig zagging lines!! Safe journey and enjoy you time in Mexico - it sounds wonderful - a bit warmer than my trip to Yorkshire!! LOL!! 2017 is going to be your year - when you finally get into Skybridge!! I am sure the tenants from h,,, will get their just deserts - Karma!! Fav!
@pamknowler Thanks for the kind thoughts!! Just about to post an image from here...and a note -- Junko was driving when a car slammed her yesterday. She is fine, but spent the night in the emergency room and is going to be very very sore. Bill and she are supposed to join us here on Sunday, so fingers crossed that all works out so she can rest in the warmth. I thought you'd want to know!
My goodness, Taffy, will "it" ever end?! So sorry to read about Junko and let her know I send best wishes for a speedy recuperation! Such a lovely retreat in the company of best friends sounds like a perfect way for you all to celebrate your holiday! (We love that part of Mexico!)
@taffy OMG what next!! Poor Junko she has recovered well from her broken arm and now this!! I do hope she is well enough to join you as resting in the warm sounds just what she needs!! Please give her my love and wish her well from me!!
I am checking in, after a long week. First, love the zig-zag lines, so bold, to lead one into the busy travel scene. Next, so bummer for Junko and her accident. I hope that it doesn't interfere with her ability to enjoy the warmth of Mexico (which sounds like just what the doctor ordered!). Give her my best!
