Behind the Grid by taffy

Behind the Grid

Taken yesterday as I walked to north Michigan Avenue from our condo to meet friends/colleagues. It was a gray day which meant very flat lighting. Somehow I think that worked to my advantage for this particular image. We're looking south down the Chicago River toward a relatively new development of skyscrapers called River Bend -- where the river splits into the north and south forks. Thanks for your comments on the dangerous donuts!
Lovely lines

Chicago — so much to photograph!!! (There's such a contrast between your picture and mine for today. ha ha ha)

Wonderful so crisp and clear great depth for a gray day.

I'm a sucker for lines...love the horizontal, vertical, intersecting lines and framing in this neat shot.
January 26th, 2017
Lines lines everywhere! Excellent, the muted colors work really well together with the lines.
January 26th, 2017
Needless to say I'm just as interested in studying the bridge as the buildings. I really like the way you've set up this shot, the pairing of two subjcts works very well and enhances both. I admire the dof you've achieved in the shot, I mostly muck up some part of something more ambitious.

I agree- it works so well with the rather monochromatic coloring. I like all the lines and how the bridge frames the buildings.
January 26th, 2017
I remember this bridge... lovely lines and textures, framing that iconic city view. :)
January 26th, 2017
I love the variety of tones...the warmth of the bridge in front of the cool tones of many of the buildings beyond. Such a neat view!

Marvelously creative framing

Sam
There certainly is a few skyscrapers in the view - you must be going thru a lot of development!
January 26th, 2017
I love your architectural shots, and like Richard, Chicago is on my bucket list! Cool capture and a great POV to show off all those shapes and lines.
January 26th, 2017
So neat! I like the contrast between the diagonal colored lines and the vertical bluish/silver lines of the buildings. I do love downtown Chicago.
January 26th, 2017
Your views of the city are so interesting. This composition is wonderful - so much going on.
January 26th, 2017
Great lines and shot

You have so many high risers where you live, Taffy. Does the sun ever reach the street? An amazing capture of these buildings through the iron grid.
January 26th, 2017
Interesting pov :)

Suddenly I am transported back a good many years to an early series of the TV hospital drama, ER. This is how I remember the city looking down by the river, sky scrapers across the water the scaffolding and staircases of the "L." The flat light has really helped pick out plenty of detail both sides of the river. I like it! PS got any more donuts?

Brilliant angles, Taffy. It may be part of the bridge I'm seeing, however, it does reflect the 'building' aspect of creating a city :)
January 26th, 2017
Very cool title. I like the view through the gridwork.
January 26th, 2017
Always love to se you work Taffy. The contrasts between BIG city and a tiny North Yorkshire village are huge indeed. Colossal shot.
