Shadows on the Wall by taffy

Shadows on the Wall

I took a walk today using only my Lensbaby since the sun was shining and I finally figured out about using ISO and shutter speed to control the lighting in the shot. All has to be done on manual which is actually good practice in general as well. Between that and photographing with b&w in mind, it was a good photo challenge day.
Thanks for your supportive comments re yesterday's b&w and your favs and kind words on the wobbly base building. Much appreciated!
Wonderful, love the l'baby!

Congrats on mastering manual functions! Not so hard to figure out after all, is it? Great image!

Beautiful. The lensbaby blur with the geometric shapes is nice

When I first switched to manual I was trying to adjust ISO too. @vignouse told me to put the ISO on auto. It really approved my photo taking. But now I play with ISO when I have the time and it can make a big difference, Especially in lighting extremes. Like light bouncing og snow that is every where. Your choices were excellent here because I see it was a bright day but it isn't washed out.

Great DoF and b&w conversion

Makes me quite dizzy to look at and my eyes are bouncing round the screen trying to find the focus point. Feels like a dream sequence in a movie.

You have such a good eye for architecture, Taffy. Another wonderful shot with great shadows.

Really excellent shot!

Superb focus, exposure and composition. I had a lensbaby but not enough patience to persevere with it, so I sold it on ebay a couple of years ago.

@jackie8 I came very close to selling it as well. It really is a specialized lens and fairly frustrating to work with. I don't think it will ever be a 'go-to' one for me, but I'm finally starting to find ways to work with it (after 3 years).

I'm intrgued by all the lensbaby shots I've been seeing lately, this is great :)

I'm not a big fan of lensbaby, but this one I like. It gives a sense of movement to this shot and I like the way it's focused on the middle ground of the shot. Glad you had a good photo walk today!

very nicely done.

Interesting, it plays with my eyes.

Very interesting shot, my eyes don't quite know where to settle. Nice work Taffy, great use of light and shade.

Nice exposure but I find myself wishing the infocus area were a bit better defined

I like the dramatic feeling of this. My first thought was "War of the Worlds". I don't think it is surprising that i like this!

Finding a photographable shadow is such a treat. Well spotted here.

@ukandie1 Thanks -- it's the wall by the old power station off Fulton. It has great shadows late afternoon (if there's sun).

Envy you, I really like to put my hand on lansbaby one day, the shot is very interesting.
