I spent some time at the zoo and the surrounding Lincoln Park. Still very wintry looking but the sun was out and we had some light fluffy clouds and it felt good to be out walking. One more day of Flash of Red!
Fabulous symmetry and framing. Love the drama in the clouds. Counting down to the end of Flash of Red sounds like you may be over the whole challenge by now and ready to bounce into some colour shots lol...lucky it's not a leap year!
Is that a bridge or a sculpture? It's fabulous! Adore the framing, makes the city look like it is inside a wibbly wobbly snow dome ;) (Or maybe I am just weird LOL!!)
What a great eye you have! Wonderful composition...very intriguing...makes me want to be there walking under that arch and on to the city. Just wondering...could you provide any info on how you processed this? I love the dramatic look you achieved.
@janetb Happy to share, but I can't remember exactly what I did within each program. So here was the order:
1. Bracket 3 shots
2. Bring into Lightroom
3. Export to Photomatix and combine as naturally as possible (lighting was tricky to get the appropriate light inside the honeycomb sculpture but not have the city blown out.
4. Back to LR to tweak with basic edits (contrast, clarity, black/white balance, exposure)
5. Export to Silver Efex to convert to b&w
6. Use sliders to get the look I wanted
7. Export to LR for final tweaks and cropping for symmetry under the honeycomb.
Hope this helps!
@taffy Thank you so much for the explanation, Taffy. I appreciate you taking the time. I so need to get better at editing. It's a fun learning experience!
This works perfectly in b&w! I did a shot of this for each season in color (in my first year), and I remember going back and back in the spring (it was a long winter that year) looking for any hint of color.
