This was my final shot taken during our last night in Iceland. Junko and I (with Páll's tracking work) were treated to two rounds of the Aurora Borealis, both muted compared to our first ‘practice’ night. The greens were softer but there was a greater array of other colors as well, with clouds coming and going throughout. I found the effects to be fascinating and have literally over 600 images in hand. Many are of course almost identical, but it was interesting to see the subtle changes as the second passed by.
Here is Junko's the same night from (A) a different location and (B) earlier by about an hour or more: http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2017-03-27

I've been going through northern lights photos and am amazed at how the sky differed in each of the three 'sessions' we did over the two nights.
My dream trip...Northern lights in Iceland. We had a trip scheduled for August, but sadly just cancelled it. I will have to live vicariously through other 365ers for now. Lovely shot!
@featherstone26 I'm so sad for you that you had to cancel! I hope you do get to go another time as I can't imagine a more exciting place to photograph!
Amazing. I don't think I will ever get to see the Aurora Borealis (northern lights) now, but maybe I could see the Aurora Australis (southern lights), but I would have to be in Tasmania to see that. They aren't visible this far north in Australia. fav
Fantastic shot, I was lucky to see them on our trip to Iceland last year, they truly are an amazing sight, even more so when they're captured on camera like this!
My comment disappeared! I wrote how much I loved how we had such a range of skies that one night alone, and how clever it was that this pile of construction dirt appears as mountains! Love those colors.
@jyokota In going back through photos, I've decided it was my favorite night even thought it wasn't as spectacular as the first night. It's given me more challenges in processing so in some ways, the result is more satisfying. How smart you were to email Pall for advice! I wish I'd thought of doing that!
@wag864 Our guide was the best -- northern lights are one of his specialty and we would never have gotten these shots without his finding the lights and helping us with settings!

Congrats on TT, somehow I missed this, well done!
