Winter on Lake Michigan's Shore by taffy

Winter on Lake Michigan's Shore

Hanging out today touring Northwestern's campus with my niece who is visiting Chicago for the weekend while on spring break. We decided that a visit to the lakeshore would be fun, but had second thoughts as the wind whipped up, clouds covered the sun, and temperatures seemed to drop. After a few photos where she provided the human element to the scene, we toured Northwestern's campus (hoping to get her to move here for grad school), and decided it was a good day for a manicure.
Wonderful moody capture!!

A lovely black and white - but it still looks cold. I thought spring would have arrived in Michigan!

Wonderful photo but oh my it looks cold. That blown down fence section says it all. It's been a rough winter this year!

Brrr! Looks cold and windy, but I love the lines in the fence. The b&w fits with the mood of the scene and the solitary figure. Thanks for your comment on my hawk photo. It cracked me up too!

I like the contrasting textures - the soft cloud cover against the pitted sand and vertical fence lines

She gives testimony to the whipping wind. There is a beauty to a day like that though sometimes best witnessed from a place of shelter.

That's a fab composition and looks utterly windswept and wintery. Hope you two had a fun day.

The fence makes a very nice graphic composition for trying to imaging the feelings and thoughts of the woman (I think she is) on the beach.

Beautiful B&W shot and great composition.

Love the composition, especially with the slats in the fence bending down towards the left. Captures the mood nicely.

@pamknowler Today the sun was out and we had a lovely walk from Navy Pier to Museum Campus -- the difference a day can make!

It does look a bit windy and bleak. Great with that fencing in it.

This has a lonely feel.

@redy4et The beach was totally empty. My niece was a great sport standing in different places so I could get a lone figure in the scene.
