A fun 4th on Beaver Island, starting with an annual hot-dog lunch/picnic and ending with fireworks over the harbor following a boat parade. Skipped the parade this year because of the heat but imagine it was a lot like the previous years' events.
What a super shot, the colours are wonderful across the water there. Very hot weather plus crowds wouldn't appeal to me either! But sitting by this gorgeous stretch of water and enjoying the view? Every time!
What a perfect position you chose for this image! Wonderful fireworks and reflected glow! It must have been fantastic to be able to watch this lovely display across the water. Fav!
This is fabulous! You clearly know how to photograph fireworks! The reflections in the water make this so great. I had far too many dismal photos this year.
Lovely red glow to the sky and water reflection, and I like how you can see so many at once in a flower-vase like arrangement. the Wilmette fireworks woke me up and they sounded like they were right outside my bedroom window -- and they were!
@lisahans Thank you! I was on land, right above the shore with the tripod set up and using an external shutter release. I was using a 28-300 zoom, so had it set at different lengths over the course of the evening.
Wow, the color in the water gets me right away. The sky is amazing too. We are hot here today too and dry of course like Summer's are. Hope you get a bit of cooling as we do at night unless it is really hot which might be tonight. Hope you are doing well. FAV
@pamknowler Unreal! An unusual run of photos, I admit! I did love this one...we had to go to a new place to photograph as our friends where we always had spent the 4th were off island traveling. I had been disappointed, but in the end, it led us to find an even better spot because we could see the boats in front of the fireworks.
Funny I was just reading about how to photograph fireworks!
Happy 4th of July.
Perfect image. Just love it!
