Camera is happy to be home again and back to work, but a little stressed at overhearing a phone conversation about the potential addition of the Nikon Z7 to our camera family. This image of a late afternoon street scene is from our walk today to test that all is normal again...the early darkness caught me by surprise although I should have expected it.
Great image Taffy - I love that I know exactly where you are Standing! Yes with our clocks going back an hour it’s also dark here by 5pm - time to hibernate! I am interested that you might be buying the Z7 - a lightweight camera is so tempting if it can give you the quality you want. So tempting! Lol!
Wonderful night shot and glad you have your camera back. I know they give us good photographs sometimes as you have here but I really hate them - roll on the winter solstice then we will be on the up again in the UK!
Great night scene... but I must say the early darkness is depressing to me... no city lights where I live! But the moon and stars cast a glow in the night sky.
@casablanca Camera says thanks and she wants to go to England! This is the Chicago Theater...so always that name. It’s one of the old classics and now is host mostly to concerts as it’s stage is pretty small for musicals or plays.
@radiogirl No tripod...I’d just grabbed the camera as I was picking up something in the Loop area and thought I’d test out the repair. When I walked out of the shop to photograph, it was already dark! Duh...I hadn’t even considered that when I left the house.
I like the dark nights but not so much when I’m out & about! You will be missing that fabulous night sky we’ve been seeing! I do like a good street shot so I love this one.....busy & exciting scene.
In light of our conversations we've had about this -- curious and curiouser . . . you're popular with 9 favs! What I like about this one is that you've presented it darker than many of your night shots, which to me indicates the coming colder weather.
Sorry re the jealousy in the family but I see that your 610 seized the moment to show off what she can do! I’m impressed with your steady hands and yes, the dark early darkness is a shock and bummer. I’m curious and curiouser re you and Junko’s conversation
I looked out the window around 4 pm this afternoon and was so sad to see the sun heading for the horizon behind the trees. I hate it getting dark so early! But I really like all the street lights and marque in this shot!
@jgpittenger Same conversation you and I have had...how you can have a photo with dozens of favs and views and not be on PP, then one with minimal ones and it lands on that page. I wonder if they reset each month or something.
I thoroughly enjoy your nighttime shots - do so wish I could get results half as good as you do after dark. I'm already nervous about shooting this year's Christmas Parade - after dark as always. This year they're including a high school band contest and know they're hoping for some good shots of it.(I shoot for the Chamber) Wish they'd do it at 2 in the afternoon like they use to! That I can do.
Chicago the musical in Chicago......that's kind of fun. Totally agree on the darkness. It's really cutting in early now.
Your winter must be so much colder than what we have here in Australia.
