Out for a Stroll by taffy

Out for a Stroll

This bird was in the middle of the street (changed background in Textures as it was just the dirt road), and wouldn't move. I stopped the car next to her, tooted the horn, shouted, etc, but she wouldn't budge. Then a bunch of little ones came out of the bush, crossed the road, and off she went. Not sure what she is -- can anyone identify? Maybe a ring-necked pheasant?
No idea of what she is, but I do love this shot and the story.

@marlboromaam I'm sure that's what she was doing. I was surprised to see these others emerge as she was all alone in the road for several minutes.

@mcsiegle I wish I'd had my camera with me but was pleased that the iPhone worked well enough. It was right next to my car, just outside the window.

Nice story. And nice picture
August 29th, 2020
Lovely shot. I agree with Julie - could be a female pheasant.
August 29th, 2020
Maybe a juvenile ring-necked pheasant? The tail feathers aren't quite long enough, but I'm no expert that's for sure. Lovely image, I like your use of Textures here!

She's lovely whatever she is. I suspect she wasn't going to move until she had made sure her little ones were safely across. Clever mummy

Not familiar enough with these kinds of birds to say what it is, but I'm pretty sure it's not a ring necked pheasant- from what I remember about them the ring is very obvious. At any rate- you've really done the bird justice with this edit. Nicely done!
August 30th, 2020
Nice processing – she was just doing her job!
August 30th, 2020
Great story
August 30th, 2020
Love - great everything!
August 30th, 2020
Does look like a hen pheasant. So funny that she wouldn't move and get out of the way! Over here, you see them a lot as roadkill where they didn't move out of the way either! Nice processing, you made her look really classy.
August 30th, 2020
Nice presentation
August 30th, 2020
Almost cartoon like, love the processing.

Beautiful capture and artistic editing

Gorgeous detail on the bird and like the processing.
August 30th, 2020
Love your processing here! Protecting her young I expect. Our pheasants stand in the road and seem oblivious to any danger from cars! Lots of road kill!
