Today was our photoshop workshop (@jyokota, @jgpittenger, me) and we started a new approach. One of us volunteers a photo to work on start to finish, with feedback, guidance, support from the other two. Today was my turn and I highly recommend as it took three minds to do it! This required combining 3 photos, as Photo 1 (base) had the people looking from the lower left, but cut off the tops of the buildings, Photo 2 had the buildings in the right place but no people and the boat had passed under the bridge, and Photo 3 had the boat in the foreground but cut off both the people and the buildings. Today's workshop helped me apply new PS tools that I had learned, but see how they fit within a workflow. Thanks Jane and Junko.
For questions from yesterday's post: (a) the dye is vegetable based, we're told, and presents no harm to the environment, (b) boats from the Plumber's Union spread the dye from Lake Shore Drive bridge (near the Lake) west to about LaSalle Street -- so about 10 blocks, (c) we were told the event was cancelled this year, so woke up to the surprise announcement from the Mayor, (d) the dye lasts about 24 hours, fading along the way, and (e) I did not change saturation at all -- that is what the river looked like (though today, it is gray and snowing!).
I prefer this photo to the initial post as it has more 'life' to it. Yesterday's: https://365project.org/taffy/365/2021-03-13
I understand the words you wrote, but wouldn't have a clue how to begin! This combo does have more vitality and love the boat where it is - 3 great minds coming together turned out an awesome shot.
These two images are amazing. You have mad Photoshop skills, Taffy!! I spent a lot of time in the 90s on business in Chicago, but never at this time of year. It must be something to see.
oh yes, this is a big improvement to yesterdays - it has much more depth. And a lot of skill must have gone into combining the p;hotos, I can see you are really making hte most out of the photoshop course.
