I took this photo while visiting the Museum of Science and Industry for a special exhibit (the purpose of the photo walk, but no photos allowed sadly). Instead, before and after the exhibit, we wandered around a new exhibit (one photo result in main album: http://365project.org/taffy/365/2013-03-16) and an iconic area of transportation. Here, hanging above are actual airplanes (see @danielwsc for an example at http://365project.org/danielwsc/365/2013-03-16), from bi-planes to a jetliner and below, a replica of Chicago including an elaborate miniature train. Along one wall is the steam engine in the photo. I chose the sepia to capture the nostalgia I felt last night, thinking about visiting this as a child and adolescent with my parents and brothers, taking college friends who visited me, and taking 4th graders on a field trip when I was a teacher. Decades later...I was back!
What a shame that you couldn't take photos!!! But you came out with something wonderful anyway - the composition is wonderful and the processing is great too.
@anwan I know the feeling -- I only had the one of the octopus (?) that was so cute, but figured better not...it ended up as such a rich evening of photos!
@ness50 Thanks Vanessa @jsw0109 Yep -- still has the mine, the human body, the farm, trains, and the submarine (the biggies from when I was a kid). But it has an incredible array of up to date exhibits that reflect today's science, medicine, and industry. It's quite amazing.
@kimshots Thanks Kim -- that's the look I was going for.
@tuesdaygirl Thanks! It did end up being a really good place for photos.
I was so tempted to post one of the few illegal shots we got, but I actually had an abundance of decent photos to choose from so I skipped it.
