Taken from the north side of the Bean ( http://365project.org/taffy/365/2013-03-21). The Prudential Building is the one to the right with the blue sign. This was the building that my parents took my brothers and me to for a special treat when we were kids. There was an observation area on the top floor. Though dwarfed today by its surroundings, at the time it was the tallest building in the city.
This makes me think of the movie "Adventures in Babysitting". I think that diamond shaped building is the place where the parents were. I loved that movie!! Nice shot!
@dtigani@pflaume Thanks David and Lisa @mej2011 Thanks for the Fav Melissa! It's fun to know folks have various favorite buildings! @kwind I've not seen the move -- I'll have to watch for it and see. Thanks for making the connection.
Wow, amazing to think of the many, many taller buildings that were built so quickly after that. I like the way the taller buildings on the sides frame the shot a bit, and the nice clear air making everything sharp!
@anwan Thanks Annette. It came out better than I'd imagined to show just how small the Prudential is these days. @danielwsc It was a fun night of photos! I only had one other I really would like to post sometime -- the lion at the AIC looked so cool against that early night sky. I'm looking forward to another outing!
@jsw0109 Thanks Jeff! It was an amazing night and I didn't use a filter. The sky was that color (so no color filter) and the little starbursts were there when I downloaded the photo. I was a bit worried because I was shooting into so many lights, but it ended up being a benefit. I sharpened them a little using sharpen in Aperture.
@taffy I guess its a mix of your aperture and a Nikon thing... I don't get that many bursts when I use f/22... I get 5 (I use a Canon.... it would be interesting to know what determines how many "star points" you get)
I've wondered that when I've seen others' night shots so was pleasantly surprised at the ones in this shot. I thought it was necessary to put a certain kind of filter to get the stars from the lights. @jsw0109

Yep, the diamond building is called The Smurfit Stone building and was featured in the 80's movie Adventures in Babysitting.
