Definitely a 'meh' shot. Blah, boring. Photo posted late for get-pushed-38. No need to comment at all -- not worthy of your time! For my records only...
Taken outside coffee shop after a meeting with one of my students. Lesson learned...I love seeing selfies such as Breigh's wonderful personal journey album, or Paul's very funny poses (e.g., umbrella in shower, light bulb), and others. I do not like taking them, setting them up, thinking about them, etc. Didn't realize that about myself as a photographer but after three challenges to have to do these, and enjoying nothing about any of them, it's clear that it's not going to be my thing.
@kazlamont So we're not crazy, right?? It just doesn't work for me, but I feel like it should when I see so many others who are so clever and good at it! Thanks for the supportive comment!
I felt the same way which is why I am making myself take one each month. It has been very helpful to get a feel about what others feel like when they are in front of the camera and gives me a chance to play with different light set ups and ideas without annoying any one else while I figure things out. It can be frustrating at times but I have learned a lot by doing it so far.
@colie You know, that is such a great attitude -- I remember that I first noticed your album when you had the great selfie of you and/on piano. I just figured you were great at them so am surprised you have to force yourself to do them. It's encouraging to think about it as something to overcome!
@thirtysevenways Between you and Colie, I'm feeling guilty to just blow selfies off. Okay -- my new challenge to myself is to figure out a few creative examples of doing something -- borrowing liberally from others who have posted selfies, and get over myself on this!
But now that you've had your rant, think about the fact that you've chosen a selfie for your profile photo. And that even though you say don't bother to comment, you ended up with people responding. Like me.
I hate even the Idea of doing a selfie but I do Ike the one of me in my coat With the hood up and at the train station. Maybe because when I took that photo, I felt like my every day was about being alone and that photo captured my mood. What about your profile selfie did you like? And what did you not like about this one - the fact that it was assigned and not self-selected?
@jyokota I was too hung up on it had to be portrait-like, and I don't like doing those, I think. But, I'm going to not quite be so adamant as all of your comments have made me rethink. I love your calling it a 'rant' as that is exactly what it was -- totally frustrating rant!! In the light of day...new thoughts.

You could try taking pics of different parts of you, your silhouette, your back, your hands etc if you want to keep giving selfies a try :) xxx
