Urban Garden by taffy

Urban Garden

It isn't the shot I wanted (see http://365project.org/taffy/365/2013-04-16), but I kind of like the composition even though the iron railing is part of the shot.
So so pretty i love the contrasts :)

What a contrast ... softness of the flowers and the harshness of the buildings. Just lovely

I like the contrast of organic, curvy against the sky scrapers.

I agree. The railing makes it even better! Perfect composition!

I'm so jealous you have tulips in bloom! My daffodils aren't even budded out yet! The contrast of the white, curvaceous tulips against the hard gray buildings is really appealing.

I like the railing! lovely.
April 17th, 2013
I agree -- the strong diagonal lines of the railing add to the composition and draw my eye right to those beautiful tulips!

@vankrey Aw...truth be told, it isn't our urban garden, but a bouquet from someone who came for dinner on Friday. I have a few daffodils (I think) that should be blooming but since they are still buds and everyone else's have bloomed, I suspect I've failed at those again this year. If I'm lucky, an alium and a few irises may show up before we leave.
@wendyhgill @darylo @spair @kcman5 @missk @sgiesman THank you for your comments -- it's funny I could only see the railing as something 'in the way' and yet your comments helped me see it more as part of the overall composition. Thanks for that!

Yeah, the railing added power to your composition. Probably just a bit of subject centering, that'd make it perfect.
April 17th, 2013
@rafaseno Thanks Rafa. I think you're right about the centering. Then the smaller of the two skyscrapers would show up more which also would be better.

I really do like the composition here!

A fabulous composition, and the railing is perfectly placed! Beautifully done.

And I smiled as I started to comment because the last three photos of the commenters above mine have cameras looking at me.

I just studied the photo again and it's all those lovely lines that really make this image. The lines of the leaves going up and out, the lines of the flower gently curving to the right, the rigid angle of the railing, the far away straight lines of the sears. Really nice, Taffy!

I'm not bothered by the rail at all. I really like what you caputured with the shot.

Great shot Taffy

Knowing what you went through to get this, it turned out fantastic! I love the touch of urban vs nature!
April 17th, 2013
Wonderful - love everything about this shot.

Super cool contrasts. Love this shot, lady!

@jankoos Thanks Jan!

@jyokota Thanks Junko! I always appreciate your analysis.
April 18th, 2013
@kimshots Thanks Kim! It helps to have others see the shot 'anew' -- made me rethink and get over what I'd originally had in mind.
April 18th, 2013
@dreamatrix Thanks!
April 18th, 2013
@timandelke Thanks -- the contrast was what I was trying to emphasize.

@danitech @amandal @pflaume Thanks Danielle, Amanda, and Lisa. I always appreciate your comments and support!

I think the iron railing gives it a feeling of depth as does the dof, lovely flower too,
April 18th, 2013
@ness50 Thanks -- because of comments, I'm now quite sanguine about the railing! May even use it on purpose sometime!
April 18th, 2013
Beautiful shot! Great composition
April 18th, 2013
Railing definitely adds to the composition and feel. Love it.
