This photo is for my get pushed challenge (see below), taken at Arrigo Park in Little Italy/Medical District area of Chicago, about 6 blocks from our house. It was a beautiful day today, so Jim and I thought Nutmeg might perk up a bit if she could have a change of scenery. While she and Jim hung out on the picnic blanket, I played photographer. I ended up snapping shots of a uni-cyclist who turned out to be a professional photographer -- I just sent him the photos, but nervously. Macro photography of the buds on the trees was great fun. And wide angle shots of the very green open park with the cityscape behind it. It's hard to choose what to post in my main album. For the get-pushed, this was a no-brainer. The statue is of Columbus, and you can see the Sears Tower peeking between the trees in the background.
My get pushed challenge this week from @angelamartel was to "play with shutter speed." I'd been considering different options and kept coming back to how big an impact shutter speed has on water. These were taken today at Arrigo Park in the Little Italy/Medical District section of Chicago using three shutter speed settings, from longest to shortest (top to bottom). Of course you can't play with shutter speed without also playing with aperture and ISO. These are 1/6/f29, 1/40/f11, 1/200/f4.2. The slower the shutter speed the more velvety the water.
PS added this evening: Note from Brian, the unicyclist-professional photographer (YAY!):
Thank you so much Taffy.
