So much is in bloom all across the city. This is from a beautiful set of planters outside one of the restaurants. Gave processing a rest -- this is SOOC (but turned 180 degrees so the fuzzies face up).
@darylo@kcman5@alia_801@elisasaeter@vankrey@colie Thank you for your kind comments. I also really liked this one and debated about whether it should have been my main album shot. Thanks for viewing it!
Michael -- a very dumb question from a very naive gardener/botanical person: Is the salix the part of the plant? the name of the plant? the name of this particular thing or a botanical term? I've seen photos of your garden from Junko and know you 'know your stuff.' Thanks in advance!
It's the genus for willows, I believe the native American "pussy willow" is Salix discolor (I had to look up the species - I'm pretty "OK" with remembering genus, but not so good on species names.
@vankrey Impressive! Thanks -- I didn't want to use the term incorrectly and I've found one of the side benefits of 365 in the flower photos is learning their names, seasons they grow, etc. It will be fun going up to Michigan for the summer as the season is about 6 weeks behind, so a lot of what I've learned this month will help me identify things just starting to bloom up there.
yes, these are "pussy willows"...we had one of these trees in my backyard when I was a kid. (in Brooklyn, NY). Great photo, brings back lots of memories!
i LOVE pussy willow. have take so many shots this year of it, but none ive been really happy with! this though is beautiful. lovely composition - looks good the way youve turned it :-)
