Today's Just-4-August word/phrase was The Three H's: Hot, Humid, Hazy. I wanted to represent that but (quite happily) today was not hot, humid, or hazy! It was gorgeous. But Freeman Patterson's advice in the August book club book has been really helpful. In week 2 he suggests exercises that ask us to have the concept in mind first (not his words, but my interpretation) and then decide how to represent that concept. That's what was in my mind when I started editing this otherwise very simple image of a pine branch against pale light fluffy clouds at twilight. I used Color Efex multiple filters that involved color, tone, contrast, polarization, and fog to try to create a hot and hazy image. I couldn't figure out how to convey humidity in it (it feels more desert-like to me), so thus the title, two out of three.
Cool idea to explore how to etsooi an image to convey a feeling or emotion too. Humidity would be hard, agreed, but I love how the colors here work for heat!
