The mountain lion was sunning herself on one of the top ledges of her enclosure. She blended in so well that I would have missed her if a guy wasn't holding his son on his shoulders and pointing out the lion to him. It's always a sad and guilty feeling to a creature like this in a caged setting. I wondered if she were simply napping away on a Sunday afternoon or bored out of her mind and dreaming of freer days.

what a stunning creature - most zoos provide enrichment for the animals - it keeps then interested and busy - in the wild a lot of animals spend a fair amount of the day sleeping hahahaha
How fabulous is this? Such a noble looking beastie. If you are into big cats then you might just like this short video. http://www.wimp.com/leopardpurrs/
Beautiful capture. I, too, have been sorry to see such beautiful creatures penned in so enclosure. To me they all look bored to death, many of them pacing around not knowing to do.
Gorgeous capture!! I always feel guilty at the zoo - although I love to see animals I would never otherwise see I hate it if they are in small enclosures!!
