Old Pier by taffy

Old Pier

My main album post was sort of over the top in terms of saturation/color ( http://365project.org/taffy/365/2014-08-10), so I thought I'd go to the other extreme for this one, in my extras album. Taken tonight on Junko and my photo walk looking for opportunities to take the super moon, which sadly, stayed behind clouds. We spent a few hours in the harbor area finding other photo opportunities while we waited and hoped for clearing clouds (that never cleared).
love the shadows light and reflections - gorgeous Taffy

Beautiful composition, Taffy. I love this hard contrast and the tonality of the water, fading from the deep grey at the bottom to washed out white at the top.

@joansmor Ah, but you get up really early, it seems. I'll never see a sunrise, but easily can get the late night shots.

I was up early this morning and outside in my bathrobe taking a fog covered moon. Have downloaded yet. BUt you are right. I am a sunrise person. (4:30 a.m. that was.)

Love the composition here Taffy and the high contrast with the reflections. Another instant fav!

Such a shame the top of the bird's head is cut off, if you used layers I am sure you could add a little in to make it a full head.

@elaine55 I'm going back into the original and see if I can re-process to include it. What's funny to me as I look back is it's like those seals in the shot I redid on the critique site -- this is an old decaying wooden owl that I was going to clone out totally. It never occurred to me it would look like a bird! But it does....so now I'll probably just crop out here since I can't replace the photo.
August 13th, 2014
Taffy you can replace the photo in Pic Monkey without loosing any comments. I thought you were extremely clever to manage to shoot a bird too! :)
August 13th, 2014
@elaine55 You can replace it? I thought you could only edit and replace it -- since the head is chopped off, I thought I'd have to go to the original and re-load...is there an easy way for you to explain how to replace? I know how to edit and replace, but I didn't think picmonkey had layers.
August 13th, 2014
@taffy I think you edit it in your own software and then open it up in PicMonkey and replace.
August 13th, 2014
So moody and reflective. Literally.
