This was one of the images I'd hoped to be able to post this week when my Get Pushed partner @soseema challenged me to show 'power.' My first shot, on Beaver Island, is all about nature's power - http://365project.org/taffy/365/2014-08-21 and I wanted the second entry to be a contrast to nature. We were driving toward Chicago in an area that is filled with power lines. This was taken from the car early evening, as the sun was setting and the rain was starting. I was glad to have a bit of contrast of nature's sky with the dominating pylons and electrical wires.
You know I'm a sucker for industrial images Taffy, and this is an excellent example of the utilitarian transformed into art. Your low pov creates a good sense of the height of these pylons and the massive voltages they carry around the country. I just love the way you've silhouetted the stark structures and wires against the inimitable glories of nature exemplified in the sky at sunset. Fav for me.
I've caught these pylons but not so many close together. That is really cool. The sky makes it beautiful. And you remind me I need to get a second one for my get pushed. I need to get going.
Fantastic - what wonderful lines and rhythm - brilliant that you chose to photograph it at sunset as this absolutely makes the image. Twice you've nailed this challenge : )
@kathiecb I appreciate your comment. I was ambivalent about trying to get these at sunset as they would have the nature element then, but that's when we were driving into the city and in the end, I'm glad it worked out that way. I ended up liking that nature and man-made were in contrast in the same picture.
