Had a wonderful afternoon taking an 'urban hike' with a friend of mine. It reminds me why I love Chicago so much. This was taken using my lensbaby at the Lurie Gardens. Behind the tall grasses, glowing in the sunlight, is the Heritage building -- a tall, elegant, glassy looking skyscraper that stands tall among the buildings in "the loop" downtown area. I was thinking of the recent thread of finding nature in urban areas.
Lens baby used so effectively to capture the glowing part in perfect focus, and then creating blur in the rest of it. I especially like the contrast of the building.
Loving your last two lensbaby photos. On each of them you've created a mood and artistic effect which you wouldn't get with a standard kens. Gorgeous photo and huge FAV.
@soboy5 Thanks Danny. I'm finding the lensbaby to be a fun additional toy to have in my kit, and interesting for what it can do with certain subjects. But I also find I don't like the results when they are too exaggerated. I like what others have done along those lines, but not so much to create them myself. It's really a great lens for practicing how to think about composition within the camera as cropping changes the image too much to be very useful.
No this one I do like. It caught Mayeye right in the beginning. Lovely brasses that look like they're waving in the breeze with just a hint of the building behind absolutely gorgeous
@janiskay Thanks for your visits and comments today. I know what you mean about being unsure of how to respond to some of the lensbaby shots. It's been a real stretch for me as I tend to like highly structured images. I'm enjoying pushing myself, but am likely not to include lensbaby shots of mine among my favorites that I've taken, though I really like ones others have taken for some reason!
@taffy pushing yourself is a good thing. I believe in experimenting. Everybody has an opinion. Not everyone likes the same thing. So opinions vary. Keep expire ting you might find something you are happy with.
