This is the Calder sculpture -- one of several outdoor sculptures that are throughout Chicago. Taken with the 50mm SOOC in mind. The sculpture's name is Flamingo.
Oh, good, it's still there!! :-)) It used to be one of my favorite sculptures in the city! You have it perfectly positioned and set off against the repetitive black fenestration of the building.
Well done with the nifty fifty. What a fantastic piece of public art, so colourful and visually engaging. I really like the shot and the sculpture too.
Its very striking being that red! Red would be better than the usual pink flamingo colour. I'm not sure I can see a flamingo in this but its probably all in the mind of which I don't have much!
Fantastic SOOC: great exposure and wise to get the dark building as background. I do need quite a lot of imagination to see the "Flamingo", but that has nothing to do with your photograph!
Very interesting challenge: the 50mm SOOC - I haven't used my 50mm lens in ages...perhaps a reason to dig it out again!
It reminds me of my lady in red metal sculpture. Though I doubt that was done by this artist. How do you decide you want to sculpt with great big pieces of metal?
Fantastic pop of red! Are you allowed to photograph works of art at your camera club as we aren't allowed over here as they are someone else's art work. We are talking about challenging the judges next year by having a set subject of Sculptures, bridges and street art!
