As we drove up to the high salt flats (over 14,000 feet), we passed through a valley of interesting formations, sort of like Monument Valley in the US, but not quite. This one towered over all the others -- you can see a tiny figure in the lower right of the formation and from one side, looks like a traditional Native American chief with headdress.
The inclusion of the person gives a great sense of scale and I love the sun star shining from the top. I can also see all sorts of faces and creatures in the rock.
How great of the sun to be so cooperative and to be placed right where you want it to be -- ha, seriously, I'll bet you had to move around and bend your legs and do all that to get the perfect placement! Well worth the effort. That star is spectacularly pointy, and I like the person in there for scale.
@redy4et At that altitude, you can tell it's harder to breathe and you have to pace yourself in walking. When kneeling, standing up at a normal rate will make you light headed. But, the air is really crisp and clean.
The sun star looks great. Nice SLR glass - you can tell.
formations in the Southwest. What's it like at 14,000 feet?
