Heading east on the Carpentaria Hwy. While the vast majority of the road was single lane asphalt only, it still turned out to be a much better road than I had expected.
Believe it or not, this strip of asphalt forms part of National Highway 1 which basically follows the Australian coast and is the longest highway in the world. While parts of it are respectable, much of it is an embarrassment and parts are even far worse than this. Just ask Wylie.
From our experience, the vast majority of the outback truckies are very considerate - unlike the cowboys that operate around the cities.
@kvphoto As the sign says KV, this is a Road Train. They operate in the outback and are licenced to have up to 4 trailers and a maximum length of 53mtrs. This one has 4 trailers but is nowhere near the maximum length.
This one that I photographed in Western Australia a few years ago would be closer to 53mtrs https://365project.org/terryliv/from-the-archiv/2015-05-05
