Short on both time and ideas again today so once again, the garden has come to the rescue.
For 360 days of the year, the Hippeastrum is a totally insignificant bulb with strappy crappy leaves - at best. For the other 5 days they are a beautiful flowering bulb with striking red flowers that just demand your admiration. We are currently in that 5 day period. (OK so maybe I am exaggerating just a little bit on how short the flowering period is.)
Don't know how common these are in other parts of the world.
What a vibrant flower! Here in the States I think these can be purchased as indoor plants good for about the duration of their bloom time. (or something like that). Seems like they're available only in the winter months here. Really nice photo you created of yours.
We have them here. You can also find them here at Christmas time so does flower gifts. You can also order the bulbs in a pot to be broke for your own satisfaction or to give as gifts for Christmas.
