The Jungfrau Glacier is the first sight you see when you pop out of the lift at The Sphinx viewing platform on top of Jungfraujoch. It is mind numbingly beautiful.
The trail of people on the left are heading out on the glacier walk that we did a little later around to the Mönchsjoch Hut a couple of kilometres away. The hut featured in the collage I posted two days ago
This is a stitch of seven scanned images of portrait shots taken with my trusty old Canon film SLR back in 2005. There was an 8th and 9th photo as part of the sequence but they weren't lined up well enough for my stitching program to handle them.
The Jungfrau glacier has its origins on the southern flank of The Monk and forms part of the Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier In Europe. At Concordia, it joins the Aletsch and the EwigschneefeldIt Glaciers and eventually flows into the Rhone River.
@shirleybankfarm If you look closely at the photo of the hut in the collage from two days ago Shirley, you will see that Rhoda is in short sleeves and there are people sunbaking with their shirts off so no, it wasn't cold at all.
