This mallard was dabbling in the James River just a few feet from shore. This gave me a chance to get a pretty good shot, as long as I was quick because he didn't spend much time with his head up and butt down.
@amyk Butt shots are likely the vast majority of a nature photographer's shots. I have a lot of names for them: butt shots, animal ass, critter caboose, birdy behind, and deerière.
