White-Throated Sparrow by timerskine

White-Throated Sparrow

As the Missus and I went walking down one of the trails in the Dutch Gap Conservation Area, this White-throated Sparrow (Zonotrichia albicollis) hopped up out of some underbrush just off the trail and perched on a branch, right at eye level.

She posed so pretty for me and made sure there were some colorful maple leaves in the background. But it was a bit awkward. I mean, we had just met and I wasn't sure if we should tell her about the food stuck to her bill. We were polite, pretended we didn't notice and never mentioned it.
Beautiful capture of this little guy. Ha, funny story about the leaf.
