Another shot from the Chinese New Year Parade. CPD is the poster child for bad policing at the moment, and in some aspects it is correct, but it is not an easy job, and not everyone is bad! I have to say despite his rather austere look in this shot, he had a great smile!
My 2 cents. When we see the videos in the news where what seems to be questionable actions by police, we are only seeing a snippet of a part of their day, week, month, year, career. We don't have the luxury of seeing all the good things they do day in and day out. That usually doesn't make the news or sell newspapers. Sorry to say we are only blasted with the videos after an officer reacts after countless run ins with hoodlums and and are pushed to the point where they may over react poorly. You are absolutely right not all law enforcement officers are knights in shining armor. It is for the most part a hard and thankless job that not all people would want or are qualified to do. But when given the chance every citizen should thank them for what they do!
@skipt07 Thanks Skip for your thoughtful words, I have neighbors and friends who are members of the Chicago Police Force. I know that the criticism of CPD is well founded in some cases, there is much improvement to be made, but I have to believe in the good of most men who parole our streets.
What a wonderful expression you have captured! The snow just adds to the brightness of the scene. Great processing! Fav! Being a policeman anywhere is rather a thankless task. I like to believe the majority are good people who do a very difficult job.
@ukandie1 just read my comment and I typed grittiness not brightness! Lol! Predictive text again! My nephew is a policeman Andie and some of the stories he tells about how people behave just scares the life out of me! It's not a job I would like to do in this day and age! Sadly there is no respect any more even for themselves! Well that's cheered me up! Lol! Have a good day!
Such a powerful portrait and although we can't see his eyes it seems he is staring straight at you. The snow adds to the appeal and really does make this special. Double Fav!
