Building a 1712 "Poltava" of Peter the Great

No need to comment - memory shot. We visited a shipyard today where a team of 150 or so is building a historic 54-canon ship following the original plans of Peter the Great. Amazing experience - seeing first hand the work of all carpenters, sail tailors, and all other kids of craftsmen who are working full days 7 days a week to get the ship ready by 2017. Needed - about 2000 oaks of 200 years old, sent from all regions of Russia, kilometers of ropes, tons and tons of metal nails and bolts. Very impressive and very educational - you can see them shape wood and metal, you can touch the future sails and masts, learn all about the original ship and what it is going to be now (a fully functional museum ship).
Wow!

Someone's paying for all of this! Going to be a worthy piece of history re-created!

@jyokota It was very impressive to see it. Here is their website - it also has a webcam that shows the current progress. Although they have an option for "English", I think the Russian version of the site is more elaborate and might also have "in progress" pictures: http://poltava1712.ru
